While you’re getting in the fall groove, considering how you will balance your time in the evenings and weekends - do you have time for hobbies, your to-do list, and other regular activities?
Here are three suggestions to coordinate + balance your busy evenings + weekends:
Figure out priorities – what are your main objectives?
Spend some time reflecting - what activities or hobbies bring you joy + energy? Then, decide how to best meet those needs - whether it is specific activities in the community or at home. Remember, filling up your schedule with more activities isn’t necessarily the answer.
Make a calendar – make sure you add all the events to your schedule
Once you’ve determined which activities you want to make time for, remember to put it all on the calendar. This way, you can avoid double-booking and ensure there is balance in each evenings. Think about travel times and transitions between activities and remember your specific needs: for example, do you need some rest after work? Remember to include appointments and plans in your calendar and reach out to them if there is a need to switch up times.
Set goals for what you want out of your hobbies
Instead of simply going through the motions of a busy Fall season, be intentional about goal-setting with yourself. What do you hope to achieve in your free time? What do you want to learn? How will this support your long-term goals? Be sure to write these down and come back to them throughout the season when the challenge of balancing everything may feel too overwhelming.
